More recently, JoeCo launched the the BLUEBOX Workstation Interface Recorder that received the 2017 Resolution Award for ‘best recorder’. BLUEBOX Audio Interface Recorders combine a high-quality DAW interface with a rugged, professional multi-track field recorder and a unique back-up solution that ensures no source recordings are ever lost. BLUEBOX delivers all three core functions in one 19-inch rack-mounted unit. Models include the BBWR24MP, delivering 24 channels of 24bit/96kHz audio both to and from a DAW over USB 2.0, with near-zero latency and simultaneously back up of all source recordings. The BBWR2408MP boasts eight channels of individually switchable mic/line inputs and 16 channels of dedicated balanced line inputs. The BBWR24B is the most affordable BLUEBOX, with 24 balanced line inputs, 16 Adat Lightpipe inputs (with SMUXII support), and 24 balanced outs. As Dante™ becomes the professional’s choice for AV networking, so the BLACKBOX Recorder delivers a trusted multi-track Dante recorder solution upon which professionals can rely – the BLACKBOX BBR64-DANTE. With the BBR64-DANTE, users can record and replay up to 64 channels of audio data from a Dante™ network, recording at 44.1kHz and 48kHz directly to Broadcast WAV files on an external USB2 drive. (Higher sample rate recording is also accommodated at a reduced track count.) The BBR64-DANTE allows hassle-free communication with any of the many hundreds of Dante™-enabled devices now in use worldwide. Designed to support standard network components and switches, it can also record 8 channels of analogue (balanced line in) alongside 56 channels of Dante for capturing audience and ambience. The BBR64-DANTE will lock to or generate word clock, as well as locking to the incoming Dante audio stream. In addition to the PFL bus providing both hi-resolution metering and headphone monitoring, an additional “mix” feature has been added to the headphone output. The groundbreaking multi-track MADI recorder based on the original award-winning BLACKBOX Recorder design, the BBR64-MADI can capture a full 64 channels of MADI data at standard sample rates directly to Broadcast WAV files on an external USB2 drive. Double sample rate MADI recording (up to 96kHz) is also accommodated. The recorder sports both coaxial and optical MADI connections for interfacing with any MADI equipped console or other equipment. Additionally, the BBR64-MADI caters for 56-channel legacy MADI and can record a further 8 channels of analogue (balanced line in) for capturing the audience reaction or general ambience. The BBR64-MADI will lock to or generate word clock, as well as locking to the received MADI data stream. The MADI input is echoed direct to the output to ease system integration. The 24 channel BLACKBOX BBR1B multi-channel recorder is a well-established and respected icon of the professional audio industry, with balanced I/O to ensure hassle-free but absolutely dependable multi-track audio recording direct from a mixing console or in a location recording environment. Built for ease of use inclusion in rigs where reliability is paramount, the BBR1B multi-channel recorder offers genuine set it and forget it functionality for applications when time is sparse but standards must remain high. For additional peace of mind in live scenarios, the unit loops the inputs directly to the outputs via relays when in record or stop mode, so that even a power failure cannot affect the audio through the PA . The unit’s three lower 25-way female D-type connectors are used as balanced inputs while the three upper 25-way female connectors are used as balanced outputs.
