Comedy Night, #BVfunE
This year BVE, as part of its mission to be more than a trade show, will be hosting a comedy night lock-in. The unique night of entertainment, taking place from 5:30pm – 7:00pm on Wednesday 24th Feb, will introduce awarding winning comedians from all over the UK and Ireland.
The special guests have appeared on; BBC Radio 1, Radio 4, XFM, Absolute Radio, BBC Radio London and at The Edinburgh Festival as well as gracing our screens via TV and cinema.
On the night we’ll have a special hashtag for you to tweet your pictures and favourite jokes, BVfunE
So, without further ado … Introducing our acts:
Our Compere - Matt Green
Comedian, actor and writer
Matt has been performing stand up comedy for over a decade, and has appeared at venues all over the UK and across the world, including The Comedy Store, The 99 Club, Jongleurs, Komedia, Banana Cabaret, The Stand, The Glee Club and many more. His act is a mixture of high energy observational and topical jokes combined with more personal stories and anecdotes. He is also a highly experienced compere and is excellent at audience interaction. He has taken 5 solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and written for and appeared in many TV and radio shows, including The News Quiz, The Now Show, Cabin Pressure, Inspector Steine, Cradle To Grave, Fresh Meat, Comedy Showcase, Comedy Lab and even Casualty, Doctors and Eastenders.

Opening - Mae Martin
BBC Radio 4 Extra, Fake Reaction on ITV
Mae has enjoyed many live appearances on radio throughout 2014, such as performing stand-up for The Phil and Alice Show’s, Lolz Lounge for BBC Radio 1 and again for their Live at the Edinburgh Festival feature, as well as Series 2 of live comedy night Sabotage for BBC Radio 4 Extra and again for the third series of Life: An Idiots Guide with Stephen K Amos.
She has also toured with The New Wave, produced by The Invisible Dot – producers of highly inventive, often left-field comedy shows. Mae has written for series 10 of Newsjack on BBC Radio 4 Extra and for Endemol and Beyond’s new all-female sketch series Sketch My Life for YouTube.
In 2013, Mae appeared on the second series of ITV2’s comedy panel show Fake Reaction and Channel 4’s 50 Funniest Moments of 2013.

Joe was selected for the Pleasance Comedy Reserve at the Edinburgh Fringe 2015, supported by the Charlie Hartill Fund. Steve Bennett, Chortle, Comedy Knights Final "Demands attention... Middle 10 - Catherine Bohart
BBC Radio 4 Extra
Originally from Dublin, Catherine fell from acting into comedy and is fast becoming a regular on the London comedy circuit. Described as "Effortlessly funny, engaging and occasionally acerbic." By Logan Murray. Often referred to as producing material that is ‘anecdotal and satirical’, Catherine has achieved the following in her first year:
- Laughing Horse Semi-Finalist 2015,
- Funny Women Semi-Finalist in 2015, seen on BBC World with comedy sketch and heard on Radio Four Extra.
Headliner - Tez Ilyas
BBC New Comedy Award Finalist, E4, Radio 4
Lancashire born Tez Ilyas started performing comedy in 2010 - hitting the ground running he found himself in no less than eight competition finals (Including the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award and Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year).
2015 was a huge year for Tez with performances on BBC1, BBC3, Radio 4 and E4 as well his debut show Tez Talks being met with huge critical acclaim.
